Trudeau: Canada provides 13 million doses of the Corona vaccine to the poorest countries

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced today, Sunday, that his country will donate 13 million surplus doses, to help the poorest countries obtain a vaccine against “Covid-19”, at the end of the Group of Seven summit in England, where the issues of the epidemic, climate change and China dominated Agenda for the past two days.

The Canadian government previously stated that it would provide the world with up to 100 million doses of vaccine to combat the spread of "Covid-19".

Trudeau said the government will pay for 87 million doses to be distributed to poor countries, adding that the donation of surplus vaccines will not affect the local vaccination campaign.

Canada has secured the delivery of more than 100 million doses for this year - more than is needed to give its population of about 38 million at two doses per person.

Canadian government officials confirmed earlier that the country had spent $2.5 billion over the past year helping other countries respond to the health crisis.

Trudeau, who will soon be leaving England to attend a NATO leaders' summit in Belgium, revealed billions of dollars in additional funding to help poor countries combat climate change.
