The Russian Navy will receive the first frigate capable of hiding from radar by 2022


The Russian Navy announced that the warship "Mercury" (Mercury), which is being built in Petersburg, as the first frigate in the Russian Navy, fully compatible with "Steels" technologies to hide from radars, will enter service in the Russian Navy by 2022.


The Russian Navy explained - according to (Russia Today) news channel today, Wednesday, that the ship will acquire a special shape after the completion of its construction with a minimum number of armored towers and prominent installations, as the ship uses types of composite materials and a special coating that absorbs radio waves distributed on the hull of the frigate .


It is expected that the stealth frigate will be equipped with a 100 mm cannon, 30 mm automatic cannons, the "Redut" anti-air missile system, anti-submarine torpedoes and "Caliber" winged missiles, and the frigate will carry drones on board.


It is noteworthy that the construction of the first stealth ship of Project 20386 began on October 28, 2016, and the frigate was first called “Derzhki”, and then it was renamed “Mercury” after the Russian sailing warship involved in the defense of Crimea in the Russian-European war Years 1854 - 1856.
