9 people died in a 5-storey building collapse on a bus in South Korea

Officials say at least nine people died when a five-story building being demolished suddenly collapsed, also crushing a bus in South Korea.

Television footage showed the bus buried under rubble amid a huge cloud of dust, its hull crushed.

According to the UAE Vision website, the bus that stopped in front of the building was carrying 17 people when the accident occurred in Gwangju, southwest of Seoul.

The National Fire Agency reported that nine passengers were killed and the other eight seriously injured.

She added that all workers had been evacuated from the demolition site before the collapse.

The cause of the accident was not immediately known, which authorities said the police had opened an investigation into.
