The Presidency of the Two Holy Mosques is conducting a maintenance operation for the Malakan water tank that feeds the Grand Mosque


The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has conducted periodic maintenance work for the water tank feeding the Grand Mosque, which is located in Jabal Malakan in Makkah Al Mukarramah, where the General Administration of Operation and Maintenance of the Technical and Service Affairs Agency at the General Presidency works on the periodic electromechanical and civil maintenance of the tank, on a weekly basis.


And the official account of the Presidency of Two Holy Mosques Affairs on Twitter published pictures of part of the work of the water tank feeding the Grand Mosque in Jabal Malakan, and the periodic maintenance of the tank. Engineer Mishaal Al-Matrafi, Assistant Director-General for Operation and Maintenance for Foreign Affairs, said that the administration carried out periodic, preventive and corrective electromechanical and civil maintenance work in Malakan tank, as well as maintenance of lighting units, electrical panels, control valves, valves for mechanical floats with a diameter of (10) inches, and vents above the tank head.


Al-Matrafi pointed to the maintenance and follow-up of civil works, during which all damaged expansion joints in the walls of the tank were changed, the walls were inspected, checked and maintained, and all metal works were painted with approved technical paints, such as service stairs and doors of tank openings, and maintenance of asphalt around the tank area.


Al-Matrafi explained that the maintenance work was carried out on a weekly basis, in order to ensure the continuity of the quality of the service provided, indicating that these services and efforts come in implementation of the directives of the General President for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, Sheikh Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Abdulaziz Al-Sudais.


It is worth mentioning that the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque supervises the Malakan reservoir, which is located on a mountain in the Al-Kaakiyah area, which is about 20 km away from the Grand Mosque, and its capacity is (80) thousand cubic meters. The tank is fed with two different feeders by two lines, each line is 350 mm in diameter. The first is from Malakan wells, and the second is from the National Water Company, which in turn fills the tank through pumps to raise water to the tank to be pumped through pipes with a diameter of (70) mm to the Grand Mosque and its facilities, which are used for the toilets of the Grand Mosque and its facilities to serve pilgrims, pilgrims and visitors .
