Mexican authorities announced the death of one person and the loss of six others today, Saturday, after the collapse of a small coal mine in the northern border state of the country.
The American network (ABC News) indicated that complaints had been submitted for years regarding unsafe conditions in the mines in the area where the mine collapsed in the Mexican state of Coahuila.
The Federal Civil Defense Office confirmed that the body of a miner had been found, adding that the search was continuing for 6 others in the state's coal belt.
For its part, the Ministry of Labor in the Mexican state indicated that the mine appeared to be affected by some kind of collapse and flood, while President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said that a dam or a pond had collapsed, causing a flood.
The Mexican military sent a 28-member team specialized in searching for victims in collapsed buildings.
