Establishing a unit to support exporters and producers with customs to solve their problems and overcome obstacles


Dr. Mohamed Maait, Minister of Finance, affirmed his keenness to continue supporting and stimulating the export sector. As one of the pillars of the national economy, which contributes to enhancing growth, maximizing production capabilities, and raising the competitiveness of Egyptian products in global markets, in a way that helps in the continued rotation of the wheel of production, with full commitment to precautionary measures and preventive measures, and to preserve employment, within the framework of the flexible approach adopted by the government In managing the Corona crisis, aiming to achieve a balance between protecting the safety of citizens, and preserving the safe economic path of the country.

 

Maait indicated, in a press release, today, Friday, to go ahead, laying the foundations for serious and effective communication for the Customs Authority with exporters and producers, and to provide support and assistance by facilitating procedures, solving customs problems and overcoming obstacles that may face the export sector in Egypt, In line with the efforts made to reduce the customs release time, to help reduce the prices of goods and services in the local markets, through the implementation of the national project to modernize and automate the customs administration system, which is based on linking all sea, land and air ports through the electronic platform "Nafia".

 

Al-Shahat Ghattoury, Head of the Customs Authority, issued a decision to establish a unit "Supporting Exporters and Producers" at the Customs Authority, under his direct supervision. In implementation of the directives of Dr. Mohamed Maait, Minister of Finance, to positively and directly deal with any challenges at customs ports, simplify and automate procedures, strengthen governance, raise the efficiency of the system of obtaining the rights of the state treasury, and support the export sector in facing Corona.

 

Al-Shahat Ghattouri, Head of the Customs Authority, said that the Central Unit for Supporting Exporters and Producers is concerned with examining and studying complaints about the obstacles that may face Egyptian exports at customs sites and ports, and coordinating with the Investor Support Unit of the Ministry of Finance to unify efforts aimed at creating an attractive environment for investment. In a way that contributes to improving Egypt's ranking in the reports of doing international business, and increasing the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy internationally, pointing to this unit that is also concerned with the periodic follow-up of procedures to overcome obstacles and problems facing exporters and ensure their removal and suggest appropriate mechanisms to prevent their recurrence in the future, and coordinate with relevant governmental and non-governmental agencies Relevance to the field of export to achieve the unit's objectives.
