Azerbaijan reveals the losses of its army during the escalation in Karabakh


The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense said that the number of dead members of the National Army who were killed during the recent conflict in Karabakh has reached 2,895, and 19 soldiers are considered missing.

 

The Russian news agency Novosti reported that the ministry stated in its statement: “We display pictures, information, names, surnames, military ranks and birth dates of 2895 soldiers of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who were martyred in the national war and were buried before May 8. We also display all the aforementioned information about 19 military personnel who They were considered missing. "

 

The ministry stressed that work is underway and is continuing to search for the missing soldiers and determine their identities.

 

In late September 2020, the Karabakh region witnessed the resumption of hostilities, which came as an extension of the chronic conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which resulted in civilian casualties. After the failure of several attempts to establish a truce, Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed in the mediation of Moscow, on the night of 9 to 10 November, on a complete cessation of fire and exchange of prisoners and dead bodies, and Yerevan also handed over to Baku three areas that were controlled by the Armenian side, in addition to the deployment of Russian peace-keeping forces.
