The demonstrators gathered outside the "Reichstag" building along the famous "17 June" Street in the capital, while the requirements of social distancing were ignored and most of them did not wear face masks.
The far-right "Alternative for Germany" party actively participated in the protests, calling on the government to stop the new laws; Controversial legislation allows the federal government to compel states to act and take action on the matter.
A Berlin court also ruled that demonstrations organized by the so-called "side thinkers" movement - who espouse critical thinking - are illegal due to the threats they pose to public safety.
