Learn about the latest works and achievement rates at the Grand Egyptian Museum


The meeting of the Board of Directors of the Grand Egyptian Museum Authority was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Khaled El-Anany, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, where many topics regarding business developments in the museum were reviewed and discussed.

 

Major General Atef Moftah, the general supervisor of the Grand Egyptian Museum project and the surrounding area, began the meeting by reviewing the developments of the engineering works in the museum. He also gave a video presentation on the methodology of the process of transferring the first Khufu boat from its current museum in the Pyramids area in Giza to the Grand Egyptian Museum and the developments in the work in this regard. He stressed that the process of transporting the boat is going according to scientific studies and pre-prepared preparations, which lasted for more than a year.

 

The board members were also briefed on the construction works of the building designated for displaying the Khufu boats.

 

He added that the work of insurance systems for antiquities and museums is carried out in accordance with the latest methods, advanced modern equipment and the highest international insurance standards.

 

Dr. Al-Tayeb Abbas, Assistant Minister for Archaeological Affairs at the Grand Egyptian Museum, reviewed the developments of the works related to the museum display of the museum’s halls, stressing that all archaeological works in the Great Staircase have been completed by 100%, and the artifacts of King Tutankhamun have been placed within 60% of the number. Its two showrooms (over 65 windows).

 

He added that the rest of the halls are being prepared to receive the artifacts that will be displayed in them.

 

The Council also decided to form a higher committee to follow up on the implementation of the terms of the contract with the winning coalition to provide and operate services, which was signed at the end of last April to ensure that the level of services reaches the best levels in accordance with international standards, in light of the coalition’s specialized Egyptian and international expertise.

 

At the end of the meeting, Dr. Khaled Al-Anani thanked all the museum staff for the effort they made to finish this great edifice.
