The Center for Near Earth Object Studies, "CNEOS" of the US Space Agency "NASA", confirmed that two giant asteroids will approach the Earth this week, according to Sky News, that the size of one asteroid is equivalent to a football field, and that they will pass next to the Earth, during its orbit around the sun.
The asteroids "2021 HC3" and "2021 AE4" will pass in a field close to our planet "relatively", at a distance of approximately 18 times that separating us from the moon, according to the American magazine "Newsweek".
And global space agencies have reached through an advanced and complex simulation process, that there is currently no technology capable of preventing the collision of any giant asteroid that might strike Earth.
The simulation, supervised by the American Space Agency "NASA" and continued for a week, concluded that the catastrophe of an asteroid collision with the Earth could not be avoided, even if we were given a period of six months in preparation for that.
And according to The Independent, such a "catastrophic scenario", which was discussed in the Planetary Defense Conference sponsored by the United Nations, proved that the countries of the world are not prepared for such kind of disasters.
Conference participants said in a statement: "If we encounter such a scenario in real life, we will not be able to launch any spacecraft in such a short notice of the current capabilities."
The only option to respond to such a dangerous event would be to evacuate the region before the asteroid collision, but the area of influence will affect large parts of the world.
Commenting on the experience, Lindley Johnson, Planetary Defense Officer at NASA, said: "Every time we participate in exercises of this kind, we learn more about the most prominent responders to such a catastrophic event, who needs to know the information and when."
"Ultimately, these exercises help the global defense community communicate with each other and with our governments to ensure that we all coordinate if a potential future impact threat is identified," Johnson added.
In response to the news of the failure of the simulation, Elon Musk, president of SpaceX, said: "The lack of a solution was one of the many reasons that we needed bigger and more advanced missiles."
The brightness of the asteroids
Although the two asteroids will be 4.3 million miles away from us, the Near Earth Object Studies Center has indicated the possibility of observing a brightness emanating from them.
Scientists estimate that the diameter of the asteroid "2021 HC3" may reach 984 feet, meaning that it is larger than a football stadium and the "Empire State" building, while the asteroid "2021 AE4" has a diameter of 853 feet.
Earth attracts about 100 tons of material coming from space every day, and most of it consists of small dust particles.
It is very rare for a large asteroid to hit the Earth, but the Near-Earth Object Studies Center had warned of the possibility of a giant asteroid colliding with Earth every 10,000 years.
Starship
SpaceX recently won a contract worth $ 2.89 billion from NASA to develop the next-generation Starship spacecraft, which is being built to transport people and goods around the solar system.
SpaceX also says, "Starship" will be "the most powerful launch vehicle in the world," and it can be used to assist the tasks of diverting the course of an asteroid heading to Earth.
