Argentine judge bars Maradona's lawyer from using the "golden boy brands"

Argentine judge, Alejandra Provitola, has ordered the lawyer of the football legend, Diego Maradona, to stop using the trademarks "Maradona's brands", in the context of a case brought by the daughters of the Argentine star against him, related to this case, according to the Argentine newspaper "Infobay".

And the judge decided, “Shell” decided to use Maradona's lawyer Matthias Morla, the trademarks of Maradona and owned by the Sattvica company established by Morla after the Attorney General's office noticed that that company had submitted 147 applications for trademark registrations related to Maradona before the National Institute of Intellectual Property (INPI).

The newspaper pointed out that after Maradona's death, there are still open legal procedures with the heirs, including accusing Giannina and Delma, the daughter of the Argentine legend, to Morla of fraud and giving pseudonyms to the Maradona brand.

"The 147 trademarks are certifications of previous marks that have been requested since December," said Mauricio de Alessandro, Morla's lawyer for the Spanish agency IFE, who announced that he had appealed the judge’s decision.

Last March, the public prosecutor had taken a precautionary measure to consider non-innovation of trademarks registered in favor of Maradona's lawyer Stevica, and based on the opinion of the Attorney General, the judge decided to extend the order banning innovation and contracting to include all trademark applications related to the Maradona name in all its forms.
