Sunday morning, a massive fire broke out in the Syrian Homs refinery in the distillation unit, following a leakage in an oil pump.
Suleiman Muhammad, director of Homs Refinery - during a telephone interview with the (Syrian News) channel - said that the unit in which the leak occurred is the oldest distillation unit, and that the fire was completely extinguished, indicating that four firefighters were short of breath.
He explained that the fire occurred in Unit No. (100), and the priority investigations refer to a leak in one of the hot crude oil pumps, indicating that the civil defense forces and firefighters participated in the extinguishing operation, pointing out that damage has not yet been identified.
