A city in Alaska drowned due to floodwaters and the evacuation of its people

Residents of Buckland, Alaska, were forced to evacuate their homes after last week's flood waters were more than 5 feet inundated.

A press release from City Governor, Mike Dunlevi, on Monday mentioned a disaster in Buckland, saying: "All state agencies have been directed to provide assistance in the fastest way possible. The floods have caused severe damage to homes, roads and facilities infrastructure, so a declaration is warranted." To bring society back on its feet as quickly as possible. "

The declaration of the disaster activated Alaska's individual and public programs to aid in disaster recovery, the statement said, adding that the flooding began on May 12 after the ice jam in the Buckland River, and that water levels have since decreased and responders are assessing the damage in the area.

A notice was issued that some homes were still without heating due to the stove oil drums dislodged during the flood.

Brian Fischer, Director of the Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (DHS & EM) said in the release, "This community has a small community emergency response plan and enacted it promptly. The coordination between Buckland, Northwest Arctic Borough, and the country has been smooth, and the leadership and residents should be commended." In Buckland for their readiness, quick action, and resilience. "

According to the Arabic site "CNN", the population of Buckland was about 500 people in 2018, and it is located about 160 miles northeast of Noum and 475 miles northwest of Anchorage.
