Official sources in the petroleum sector revealed that a shipment of liquefied gas will be exported from the Edco Liquefaction Plant on Sunday, pointing out that the volume of the shipment is about 150 thousand cubic meters of gas.
The sources added, in exclusive statements to "The Seventh Day," that by exporting that shipment, it will become the ninth shipment for export from Idku Liquefaction Plant during the current month of February.
Egypt succeeded in supporting its position as a major player in the gas sector during the past six years through the implementation of 29 projects with investments of 437 billion pounds, which contributed to Egypt occupying the thirteenth position globally, the second in Africa and the fifth in the Middle East in the production of natural gas, with the start of the implementation of the energy strategy Integrated and sustainable growth until 2035, which was approved by the Supreme Council of Energy in 2016, the growth rate in the gas sector was negative, and as a result of the efforts, a shift took place to make growth positive by 25%.
Egypt has gas liquefaction plants on the Mediterranean in Damietta and Idku, which opens new horizons towards maximizing Egypt's regional role and contributes to achieving revenues for the benefit of the Egyptian economy and securing energy supplies for the local market and development projects.
